A fire risk assessment looks at the premises. Who might be on the premises, what could start a fire, how it could spread, and how people will get out. The responsible person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 has to make sure it is done.
A hot-works RAMS looks at one task: the permit, the combustibles, the extinguisher and the fire watch. RamsBox drafts that task document. It does not produce a fire risk assessment of a whole building. The two get confused on site, and they should not.
Premises: a small warehouse with a mezzanine office and a night cleaner.
Hazard: storage against the rear escape door, and a contractor grinding in the unit next door.
Action: clear the door today; agree a hot-works permit and a one-hour fire watch before any grinding; review when the mezzanine layout changes.
